Are you more of a pajama or a nightgown?
I really would not know which one to keep, both have
their pros and cons and I use them interchangeably, depending on the time of
year, especially. But in today's post I want to analyze both pieces so
that you can, without you have done it yet, determine their priority, or maybe
you are like me and you stay with both, better than better, more to choose
from!

Pajamas or nightdresses? Different types of styles
There are many cuts and combinations that create
incredible models of nightwear . Many opt for leggings or
sweatpants and an old t-shirt to sleep in or just to be around the
house. But if you prefer to wear a matching pajama that gives you the
greatest comfort for sleeping hours, you can also choose between different
types. The most common? Those that we will see next:
Nightgowns: they are a kind of dress for
sleeping. We can find them in different models, different fabrics and
infinite lengths, for the thigh, for the knee or the classic long for the
ankle. The sleeves can also have different cuts and may include certain
added features, such as a hood, drawstring at the bottom or waist, or buttons.
Continuing with the style of nightgowns, we can
find camisoles , which are oversized shirts, quite spacious and are
usually combined with matching knickers or culottes .
We also find, in this same line, the night shirts ,
a kind of combination between a camisole and a dress shirt, since it has
buttons. They are generally made of cotton.
For special occasions, we can opt for pajamas or
lingerie nightgowns , such as the babydoll or the chemise . The
first is a combination of a tank top and matching panties, an extremely sexy
set. On the other hand, we find a lingerie nightgown model, known as
a chemise , with a thin strap and a very sensual cut. These
garments are generally made of silk, mixed with lace.
On the other hand, we find the classic pajamas ,
t-shirt and pants, available in a multitude of fabrics and lengths, from the
most summery of suspenders and extra short pants, to the warmest for winter,
with flannel pants and long sleeves. In between, a wide range of models for
all tastes.
For certain “special” occasions, one of the best options
is evening wear, a combination of pants with a button-down night shirt ,
whether they are long or short. In general, these sets are made with very
delicate materials, such as satin or silk.
Finally, one of the pajama models that we see the most
lately, ideal for the cold winter: the one-piece onesie pajamas! Some
have a hood and can be closed either with a zip or with buttons.
Types of fabrics used in nightwear
As for the materials used to make these nightwear, we
also find a wide range of options, from the warmest ones, such as flannel, to
some cooler ones. The most common fabrics in pajamas and nightgowns are:
Cotton and organic cotton : one of the most
comfortable at any time of year, since they provide heat in winter, without
being excessive, and in summer they do not give too much heat.
Silk or satin : in addition to being comfortable,
these fabrics are extremely elegant and fresh, with a very soft touch.
Flannel : for the most cold, although, sometimes, if
we sleep with a thick blanket or duvet, they can be too hot.
Features to take into account when choosing the right
pajamas
When we mention the words pajamas or nightgown, something
comes directly to mind, comfort! And it is that the main
characteristic that this type of clothing must present for sleeping is the
possibility of offering, to the people who use it, the greatest possible
comfort, so that you can rest without worrying if your pants are loose and your
pants go up. leg or if the waistband of the nightgown is too tight.
It is also important to take into account the time of
year in which we will use each pajama or nightgown, not only to choose one type
of length or another, but also to choose the appropriate fabric :
Can you imagine sleeping in flannel pajamas in
summer? Impossible.
Choose the correct size , it should not be too
loose, despite the fact that many times we tend to opt for pajamas that are
larger than necessary, believing that this will imply greater comfort; and
it shouldn't be too tight either. It should be a measure that allows all
kinds of movements and that, in turn, does not make us be aware of whether the
pants fall off or if the sleeve is too long.
As for the duality that we presented at the beginning, nightgown or pajamas? The answer is really very simple, it depends! Of the tastes of each person and the moment in which you are going to use it. There is none that is more fashionable than the other exactly, it is true that some colors or cuts are a trend, but it really is a garment that you will use to sleep and that very few people will see it, so, From my humble point of view, comfort and your tastes should prevail over any passing fad, don't you think?
